Our reaction to the Competitiveness Compass
Yesterday, 29 January, the European Commission unveiled its Competitiveness Compass, setting out a roadmap to strengthen Europe’s economic resilience and global standing.
Our Director General, Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, says:
“The Competitiveness Compass hits all the right notes: reducing regulatory burden, simplifying rules, boosting investment in innovation and streamlining funding. We fully support the focus on innovation, the 28th regime, an ambitious Single Market strategy, and a stronger role for the EIB.
President Von Der Leyen and her team have set the right direction. Now the hard work begins. If these plans can indeed save €37 bn in compliance costs for companies, that will be a huge boost for Europe’s digital industry.
We need to see what’s under the hood of all these 10 Acts mentioned in Compass. As our CEOs said, we need to stop regulating, unless it makes the lives easier and better for companies in Europe.
DIGITALEUROPE stands ready to bring business expertise to the table from green tech and to dual use, from health tech to mobility and finance. Europe has the talent and companies to win the tech race, we just need to focus on our strengths”.
