JOB VACANCY: Senior Research and Innovation Manager for Projects

Our current project work focuses primarily on supporting the goals set in the EU’s digital decade agenda for digital skills and competences but also in strategic areas like data spaces, digital and green transition, digital health, cybersecurity, and e-inclusion. In many of these initiatives, DIGITALEUROPE’s role lies in project management, communication, sustainability and research. 

Key Responsibilities & Job Description 

We are looking for a Senior Research and Innovation Manager who will be responsible for coordinating DIGITALEUROPE’s EU-funded projects. The position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project manager with an important research background and a strong interest in digital matters to lead the implementation of complex EU projects in close cooperation with DIGITALEUROPE Project and Policy Teams members.  

  • Manage the daily activities and implementation of DIGITALEUROPE’s projects and tenders. 
  • Take a pivotal liaison role with all internal and external stakeholders and ensure efficient communications with the European Commission. 
  • Monitor the overall progress regarding milestones and deliverables, reporting to the Associate Director of Projects. 
  • Identify and manage risks linked to the project implementation, as well as propose and implement adequate risk mitigation measures. 
  • Champion the preparation of deliverables, including research-oriented reports and annual reports, as well as preparation of progress reports to the European Commission. 
  • Identify additional funding opportunities for the development of DIGITALEUROPE’s project activities and design new project proposals and tenders. 
  • Support the organisation of events, meetings, agendas, and presentations. 

Key requirements 

  • Three to five years of work experience in project management, with at least two years working with European-funded projects and tenders. 
  • Research and innovation experience in writing scientific articles and reports, as well as good knowledge of research methodologies. 
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, with experience of working collaboratively with staff at all levels within the organization. 
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience of presenting to senior staff and external audiences. 
  • Proven ability as a community & network builder. 
  • Excellent command of English. 

It would be valuable to have 

  • Extensive network of trusted contacts in the EU research and innovation field. 
  • PhD in an ICT field or related scientific area. 
  • Ability to build consensus and promote trust both externally and internally. 
  • Additional languages are a plus.
