Vacancy: Director – Single Market & Digital Competitiveness

Key Responsibilities & Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead association activities under our Policy Group on Single Market and Competitiveness, which spans across industrial strategy, product compliance, MFF investments and skills.  The Director will play a crucial role in driving competitiveness campaigns and supporting the EU in achieving the goals outlined in DIGITALEUROPE’s 2030 Manifesto.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director for Cyber, Infrastructure & Competitiveness.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of policy advocacy strategies to advance Single Market harmonisation and EU’s competitiveness
  • Facilitate and coordinate meetings of DIGITALEUROPE’s Industrial Strategy & Better Regulation Working Group, and support to activities of the Standards and Compliance Working Group
  • Liaise with outreach and communication teams to advance overarching association campaigns
  • Build and strengthen relationships with DG services, Council representatives, MEPs and other key stakeholders to advance the association’s goals
  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities on EU Single Market and competitiveness policy, and propose proactive measures to address them
  • Develop position papers and consultation responses, and coordinate briefings for high-level engagement
  • Represent DIGITALEUROPE, including in a speaking capacity, at conferences, workshops, and other events focused on Single Market and competitiveness issues
  • Foster and maintain relationships with peer trade associations engaged in Single Market-related matters

 

Key Requirements

  • Six to twelve+ years of relevant experience in industry, associations or governmental roles.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in EU policy-making, particularly in areas such as EU industrial policy, regulatory burden reduction, semiconductors, quantum, EU budget, standardisation, and the EU product compliance and safety framework.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; English at a native speaker level.
  • Ability to lead a motivated and driven team of policy and technical experts.
  • Solid interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment.
  • Solid consensus-building skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around common objectives.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
