DIGITALEUROPE hosts Secretary Raimondo and EVP Vestager to discuss transatlantic tech collaboration with industry leaders in Brussels

DIGITALEUROPE today hosted a high-level transatlantic roundtable between US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager, and senior executives from leading companies from Europe and the US.

The roundtable saw the participation of senior executives representing DIGITALEUROPE’s diverse membership, including software and hardware companies, and digital and digitally-transforming companies.

They discussed plans for a transatlantic technology dialogue, regulatory cooperation, artificial intelligence and the data economy, data flows, content moderation, trade and supply chain issues, digital skills and female empowerment, and the role of digital in the post-COVID recovery.

Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director-General of DIGITALEUROPE, said:

“We welcome the rekindling of the EU-US partnership and renewed efforts to solve the most pressing challenges standing in the way of the global recovery. We agreed today that digital technologies have a vital role to play.

We hope that today’s meeting is just the beginning. A permanent forum for dialogue on tech issues would be the perfect place for the EU and the US to set a common agenda with digital innovation, growth, security and human centric technologies at its core. We welcome today’s high-level engagement with industry and hope it will continue.”
