Re-globalization: Better Trade for a Better World
DIGITALEUROPE’s session “Better trade through digitalisation” at this year’s WTO Public Forum (10-13 September) will present concrete actions taken by the digital services sector that directly contribute to more efficient and greener trade across the various supply chains Our panel will take place on 13 September.
We will look at the fascinating development of the “digitally delivered services” that cover all aspects of the world economy and represent more than 50% of the world trade in services. It will present the various solutions brought by the digitalisation of processes and deliveries, which involve telecoms infrastructure, computer-related & IT services, and transport & logistic services.
The session will also analyse the numerous barriers that are erected by governments to prevent businesses from providing digitally delivered services in other countries, slowing the development of more sustainable and responsible trade. It will then present possible solutions through trade policy, either bilateral, plurilateral, or multilateral at the WTO.
